Gathering inspiration from everything that surrounds her, Cathy Waterman works magic from
her sun-splashed Santa Monica studio, designing the most unique and coveted jewelry in the
world. Celebrities and influential women regularly choose to wear her collection in their
everyday life as well as for important occasions. The First Lady, Michelle Obama, accented her
inauguration day look with jewels from the “Lace Edged” collection and Gwyneth Paltrow
accepted her Oscar in a Cathy Waterman cuff.

Cathy is a visionary, an artist and a pioneer, who treasures her role as a mother and a wife. She
has built her career turning the art she imagines into reality. Now, her curiosity and unique
design perspective have led her to incorporate home goods into her repertoire.
Born in Hollywood, Cathy was surrounded by imaginative characters but excelled in
academics. She was a scholar of Byzantine and early church history at UCLA, later earning her
law degree. Landing a position in the film industry, Cathy was enchanted by pictures and
realized her path would take a more artistic course. A jeweler in the family helped her discover
the gift of design, which sparked a well of creativity and ultimately led her to realize the infinite
possibilities of jewelry.

Cathy continues to create jewelry with the attention to detail of the old world masters, artfully
coupled with modern elements. From the beginning of her career and before it was in vogue,
she insisted upon incorporating recycled gold and remaining mindful about the origin of her
stones. Her uniquely identifiable but always extraordinary jewelry incorporates rare colored
stones and diamonds delicately set in organic silhouettes of gold and platinum. Over the past
two decades, the business has evolved, with Cathy’s daughter Claire joining her in the studio to
preserve the brand’s heritage while also bringing a fresh perspective and paving the way for the
company’s future.
